This synthesis, written by CSEN’s workgroup n°6, provides an overview of recent advances in conversational agents and their uses in the field of education. Based on an in-depth scientific review, interviews with researchers and engineers, and a survey of teachers, school leaders, and students, the report highlights perceptions and expectations regarding artificial intelligence in schools.
It emphasizes the challenges of adoption and the need for pedagogical support for the entire educational community—teachers, students, and parents. Finally, the synthesis offers concrete recommendations for the deployment of ethical, responsible, and inclusive AI tools to support learning, innovation, and trust in education.
